Injured Wedge Tail Eagle

We found a young Wedge Tail injured on our property

Dutch wwoofers Tim & Eline & I went out for a walk with the horses & discovered a young injured wedge tail eagle on the lower track of the property.

The rescue started!

With the help of Trevor from across the road we were able to capture him & bring him home and then meet up with Anita Turton of the SA Bird of Prey Rehabilitation Centre

P1020264Anita nursed him back to health to enable his release on Sunday 24th February 2013.

Leon & myself along with Raphael from Germany, Anita & Theo, Trevor & Anne, Scout, Alia & Oliver (who came along to buy some Cayuga ducks) were present for the release.

His initial flight was short but then took off again over the gully and then into the distance.

We felt this was an amazing once in a life time experience for those present
